We Are So Close to Unlocking The Night of Dissolution! (ALSO: Some Critical Info.)

This campaign ends in about an hour, and we’re closing in on unlocking The Night of Dissolution. Will we make it? In at least one past campaign, we’ve unlocked stretch goals in the final minutes—so we’ve seen it happen. This one is a real nail-biter, but, hey, that’s why they call them stretch goals!
Here’s what you can do to help put us over the top:

Now Some Critical Things to Take Care Of
Before the campaign reaches its end, we wanted to give you a little checklist of things you might do to make sure you get all of the rewards you deserve without any hiccups.
1. Double-check Your Pledge. Go right now to the Kickstarter page and make sure you chose the reward level you want. (Are you backing at the VISITOR level? You really should check out RESIDENT!) If you want any add-ons, make sure you’ve increased your pledge amount accordingly. (Just click Manage Your Pledge, then increase the amount of your pledge by the cost of the add-on(s), without changing your pledge level. We’ll clarify what the extra funds are for in BackerKit, after the campaign ends.)
2. Credit Card. Please make sure your credit card information in Kickstarter is current and correct.
3. Last Minute Reward Add-Ons. Once the Kickstarter campaign is over, you won't be able to modify your pledge using Kickstarter. Add-ons should available, for a limited time, through BackerKit. We can't guarantee it, though, so if there's something you want, now's the time to be sure you get it.
4. Be Prepared for Additional Updates. The Kickstarter campaign is ending soon, but we’ll be interacting for some time—most rewards won’t ship for many months! Updates are the most reliable way of reaching all backers, so please make sure you read them and that they don’t go to your spam folder.
This is important. If you don’t read our updates, you may miss some rewards!
5. Watch Your Email for Fulfillment Messages. We can't emphasize this enough: We don't fulfill rewards through Kickstater, nor through BackerKit. We fulfill rewards by having you redeem them for free through our online store, the MCG Shop. When it is time to redeem a reward, we'll send you an email message directing you to the MCG Shop where you'll "buy" your rewards for free using a coupon system (don't worry, it's an easy system). Be on the lookout for our messages—don't let them get lost in spam.
6. Rewards Release Over Time. We'll be fulfill rewards starting very soon (the bonus 3e PDFs) and continuing through 2021. You can fulfill your rewards as they are released, or bundle them together to save on shipping costs. We guarantee a reward will be in stock for you for up to a year after its release.
7. Spread the Word One Last Time! This campaign isn’t over yet! We greatly appreciate all your support. Thank you for helping us make Ptolus so awesome!
The Votes Are In: It’s the Spire!

In record numbers you have voted. At first it was close—many backers wanted to set out into the city. But the Spire eventually pulled strongly into the lead.
At $780,000, we’ll unlock the conversion of another existing mega-adventure for Ptolus: The Night of Dissolution. Picking up from the adventures in the Ptolus book, The Night of Dissolution pits player characters against the darkest foes the city has ever faced. Following the threads of a hidden conspiracy, the characters find themselves up against insane cultists, wild chaos magic, and horrors from the primordial days of the world. The Night of Dissolution will be converted for Cypher System and 5e, and added, in PDF, to the rewards of every backer at RESIDENT level or above.
Can we make it? We’re down to the last three hours, but we’re already well on the way. If we keep up the pace of the last hour or two, we’ll do it. Here are some ways you can help:
- Go to EN World and join in the conversations about Ptolus. Thousands of gamers and D&D players congregate there, and loads of them haven't even heard about this campaign yet, let alone realized how cool Ptolus is.

- Go to the MCG twitter account (@montecookgames). Find a Ptolus-related tweet we've sent, and retweet it.
- Do the same thing on Facebook and Instagram.

The Runeblood Blessing and City of Adventure Are Unlocked! Let’s Do Another One!

Your trip up the Spire, despite its many dangers, has paid off! We are going to make The Runeblood Blessing in PDF, and Ptolus: City of Adventure in print! Every backer at the RESIDENT level and above (that’s more than 90% of you!) gets The Runeblood Blessing. Every backer at HERO and above gets Ptolus: City of Adventure in print!
Let’s Unlock Another One!
We’re closing in on the final hours, but there’s definitely time to unlock at least one more stretch goal if we all pull together and spread the word.
Because it’s so late in the game, and we’re all feeling a lot of anxiety in our lives, let’s just cut to the chase on this one.
- If we venture into the City, we’ll upgrade Ptolus: Monte Cook’s City by the Spire with eight additional pages' worth of new art.
- If we make our way up the Spire, we’ll convert the existing 3e mega-adventure, The Night of Dissolution, to both 5e and Cypher System in PDF.
- If we delve into the dungeons, we’ll unlock a GM’s Notebook in print and PDF for planning and tracking your Ptolus campaign.
You can vote for this stretch goal now! This poll will be open until 5:00 p.m. EDT (2:00 p.m. PDT)—so hurry!
Once we have those poll results, we’ll announce them on the Kickstarter page, so be sure to stop by and see what’s next. Whatever the result, we’ll unlock the stretch goal when we get to $780,000.

Your Early Products Will Be Extra Early

Looking for some reading materials for the weeks to come? Is sooner better than later? Good news: we are going to send your early rewards extra early.
The original plan for the collection of 3e titles, including the original Ptolus: Monte Cook's City by the Spire for 3e, was to send these to you right after we close BackerKit, our pledge manager. BackerKit will open the week of 6 April, and we intend to keep it open for about a month, so that would put the distribution of these early-reward PDFs in early May.
Here’s the TL;DR: instead, it will be early April, for backers who fill out their survey when BackerKit opens.
Here’s the longer version: given the current situation, we’re pulling that fulfillment forward as far as we can. Ideally, that would be tomorrow, but that simply isn’t possible. We’ll need some data from you before we can send them out, and the logistics of gathering that data, and more importantly, accurately managing it for the long term, mean we’ll need to do it via BackerKit. So we can’t send you your PDFs until you fill out your BackerKit survey.
Given these extraordinary circumstances, for backers who fill out their surveys right away, we’ll send out the PDFs at the end of that week. We’ll do a second sending when BackerKit closes to catch everyone else.
Here is an important caveat: The 3e titles are being fulfilled by their original publishers, which include Malhavoc Press, Fiery Dragon, The Forge, and Skeleton Key Games. This is a change in the process we agreed to, so we’re working with them to make this change. Please be forgiving if they don’t all fulfill at exactly the same time or precisely on this schedule.
We hope you are safe and that your life is as close to normal as it can possibly be during these strange and stressful times. And we hope that this change helps make the trials ahead perhaps a tiny bit more bearable.

The poll is closed and the votes have been tallied. We’re going to brave the Spire once again!
If we make it to $720,000, we’ll unlock not one, but TWO goals!
First, we’ll unlock The Runeblood Blessing. Following the trail blazed by Grip of the Ebon Hand and The Doctrine of Ghul, this will be another hefty adventure. A sorcerer has created a ritual to invest people with magic, manifested as a blood-red rune on their faces, and nobles, city elites, and adventurers line up to gain this new power. Meanwhile, a wave of crimes hits the city, and the major crime organizations don’t know who’s responsible.
Every backer at the RESIDENT level and above will get The Runeblood Blessing (the adventure, not the blessing itself) in PDF. But that’s not all!
In addition, we’ll take those three adventures—Grip of the Ebon Hand, The Doctrine of Ghul, and The Runeblood Blessing—and we’ll bring them into print format. Ptolus: City of Adventure will be a 96-page softcover adventure book. Every backer at the HERO level and above will get this book added to their rewards automagically! (Or perhaps that’s chaositechnically?)
We’re down to the final 24 hours of this campaign. If our past campaigns on this scale are any guide, we should be able to slam this one home and probably unlock at least one or two more. Of course, these are troubled times and we’re facing some unprecedented headwinds. If you know someone who would normally love to back this campaign, but is uncertain about the future, please remind them that if they back for as little as $1, they can participate in BackerKit and, if their situation improves, upgrade their pledge at that time. We all have a lot on our minds, but let’s spread the word a little for one more day, and bring this campaign to a fantastic conclusion!
